Found a bunch of 475 Ruger brass that I bought many years ago. Anybody ever heard of it?

Never heard of the 475 Ruger? I have a 480 Ruger, but never heard or seen it referred to as the 475.

Same cartridge. That was the name in the prototype stages.
They thought it would be confused with 475 Linebaugh, so changed it to 480 Ruger, which is just a shortened 475 Linebaugh

Very interesting. Thanks for the history lesson. As the late Paul Harvey would say; "And now you know the REST of the story".

Hmmmm. Hadn't heard THAT story. I also have a .480 Ruger, and like it a lot.

I had never seen the 475 Ruger headstamp nor ammunition. Thanks to both for the original picture, and the following link and picture.
I am a big fan of the 480 Ruger and 475 Linebaugh. The 480 Ruger performance levels are about perfect to me.
