Brother and I have a lot we bought close to Roosevelt lake, west property line borders national forest. Took almost a year to get the septic, electric and water in, very frustrating.

Once accomplished we got the trailers in, my brothers concrete pad done and some gravel.

Lots to do yet... my pad, Covers for the trailers, sheds and eventually a metal shop/garage for the boats.

Work wise I've been swamped... but the oddest job I'm doing is burying 4 Conex boxes and digging through caliche... days of ram hoes. At the same time I had to build a 16,000 sq ft engineered building pad that was 6ft on the low end. Of course the 10ft hole couldn't have been on the low end, it was on the top end where caliche started at 2ft down.

Lots of fun.

The guy I'm doing the work for has an pipe supply and his son has an excavating/undergound repair company. All the equipment is theirs, which is nice as I always have it on site when needed.

That machine is huge and just crawled out of a 10ft hole, each arm can be moved up and down in and out. It's bouncy while operating because of the balloon tires, you have to keep it smooth, takes a bit of a touch.

What's the idea with the Conex boxes buried in the ground?

I bet it takes a bit to operate it good.... Not something I'd put a newbie on... wink

It's shocking how expensive equipment is now.

I thought about adding a Cat D2 dozer to my fleet, but after looking and calculating, and considering I only may have 10 more years of doing what I do, I'd hate to try and make that $200k SOB pay for itself...

That piece takes a light smooth touch, you can't manhandle it, took me a bit to smooth it out. It was bought to clean the sides of train tunnels, they had a couple contracts, I guess it paid for itself but that's a lot of money sitting there.

I'm back on the job this morning backfilling plumbing trenches so I can grade and setup the house floor. Using a regular bobcat e60 and skiploader.

It's been a little on the dry side until lately, and we're needing a little dry weather now. Supposed to be heavy rains and storms today and tomorrow. We need to cut that grass hay now, and hopefully get another cutting off the part we don't use as pasture. Can't get around what Mother Nature throws at us.
