I’m looking for an aluminum buttplate to fit a ‘62 Remington 700 which I bought here several months ago. It arrived with a plastic one but my research tells me it should be the metal variety. Thanks in advance if anyone can find one. Needs to be 5” long by 1 9/16” wide with hole spacing about 3”.

Rufus I might be wrong, but I think some of the early ADLs came with a plastic buttplate.

1968 was last year of aluminum butt plate on BDL gun. I do not know if that holds true on an ADL gun.

I have two 700 ADL carbines from the first month they were made and they have aluminum buttplates. I also have an ADL that I bought new in ‘67 I believe and it also has an aluminum buttplate.

Thanks. Have determined mine was definitely replaced so I’m still searching.

My question is about the stock, is it a Gen1 and correct for the rifle?

There might be a possibility that the stock was replaced by a later model. The earlier 700ADL and BDL had aluminum butt plates. Post a picture of the rifle showing the checkering pattern. I might have an extra plate.

I might have an extra plate. Sorry for the delay in my response. Here’s a pic with the plastic plate in place. All of the aluminum plates I’ve seen had a slight concave curvature to them whereas the butt of this stock is flat. Do you have an aluminum plate w/o the curvature?

I am quite sure that stock was slightly cut and the buttplate replaced with the one pictured. I don't know of any Remington plates that are flat.

I have an aluminum buttplate that came off of a 760 made in the late 50's to early 60's. Not sure if it would fit anything else.
