I have a vintage spinning rod that my uncle gave me many years ago, the cork grip is in need of replacement. Any rod repairmen on the 'Fire that could do the job ? E-mail me at: bobtwining sbcglobal.net for pics if you can help. Thanks.

I don't know how bad the shipping costs would be but Google Triple Threat Rods Sedalia MO. James does first class work and does restorations. He can completely change out your handle if you like as well as new guides with your choice of colors for the windings.

If you are ever interested in breaking rods, I can share many interesting and inventive ways of doing so from my years of experience.

Thread derail; but I can highly recommend sticking those 7 feet long, really expensive, brand new rods out your back drivers side window... then hitting the button to roll your windows up as you take off. Takes a fifth of a second to realize what that crunch noise was and years to forgive yourself...
Believe it or not, it was not covered by their warranty...
Probably still have the rods somewhere so please do post if you know of a good rod repair shop.

Ceiling fans, rear tailgate windows, drift boats rowed by people who have never rowed, dogs, children - the list is pretty much endless!

A little surfing for videos, and one should be able to pull it off. Toughest part is probably securing the cork.
I've done a few fly rods, but they're also my own builds, so I know how they go together.
If there is a fly rod shop nearby, they often do classes on builds and could help you out.
Good luck,

That. If he were building a new rod but with an old one he’d have to remove the guides 1st. Nice offer on Rodger’s part.

With the use of just a little masking tape as a base, one can eliminate the taper and rebuild a handle from the back end without removing reel seats or guides. Another method would be to halve one's cork rings at a steep angle and epoxy halves back together on the handle. I'd be inclined to go with the former.
Rebuilt a handle on my first fly rod last spring. Although I have numerous replacements, it's hard to let one's old friends go.

Yes to Janns. Give them a call and they will get you exactly what you need and how to do it. I use them all the time.

I know a guy who buys old fishing reels and sends them off somewhere to be repaired if needed. He says it gets expensive, but its just a hobby he has. He puts them on display in his man cave, looks pretty cool.
