A little history for American Uni students wanting to 'restore Palestine'.
1. Before Israel, there was a British mandate, not a Palestinian state.
2. Before the British Mandate, there was the Ottoman Empire, not a Palestinian state.
3. Before the Ottoman Empire, there was the Islamic state of the Mamluks of Egypt, not a Palestinian state.
4. Before the Islamic state of the Mamluks of Egypt, there was the Ayubid Arab-Kurdish Empire, not a Palestinian state.
5. Before the Ayubid Empire, there was the Frankish and Christian Kingdom of Jerusalem, not a Palestinian state.
6. Before the Kingdom of Jerusalem, there was the Umayyad and Fatimid empires, not a Palestinian state.
7. Before the Umayyad and Fatimid empires, there was the Byzantine Empire, not a Palestinian state.
8. Before the Byzantine Empire, there were the Sassanids, not a Palestinian state.

Scientology - system that governs how its followers lead their lives with a pseudo-religious component as a binding agent. Branch Davidians, Charlie Manson, Jim Jones etc - all had a way to govern their followers with religious devotion to themselves as a binding agent.

I always thought it was a region, not a country. Like saying the Pacific Northwest, or the Deep South.
P Currently, it's a "city" in Israel. Palestine isn't the original name, but evolved over the millennia into "Palestine". Yassar Arafat, PLO leader, was offered every concession he asked for to complete a peace deal with Israel. Arafat refused. Palestinians, Gazans, Hamas, Hezbollah ALL see the total annihilation of Israel as the ONLY answer!

Before there was Islam there was Christianity but Christianity had pretty well been eliminated after Rome took it over and made it a state bureaucracy. It did survive in some pockets and in fact does today. Of the churches that identify as Christian most are lineal descendants of the Roman church and therefore Christian in name only. The religion of Islam started as a reform of Christianity but veered off course and became as bad as nominal Christianity.
We all know the history of the two so called religions fighting for centuries over real estate and power which still goes on today. It is pretty obvious that Islam has settled in to play the long game against the decadent west.
We will see if biblical prophecy that has the Jews ruling the world comes to pass. Jesus promised the law and the prophets would stand until heaven and earth pass away. Isaiah 66 has Israel ruling the world. Both Christianity and Islam sprang from Judaism, they may yet return to it.
