I was tempted to purchase one myself, but holding one a few times basically cured me of it. They seem really top heavy/high bore axis. I think there was a series of videos where Vickers talks about how it will be a 1911 killer etc. I’m sure it’s a good gun, almost anything HK is, but it didn’t impress me enough to buy.

I owned H&K .45 years ago, it cured me of the brand which is not worth premium asked, imo. Threaded barrel w/o supressor height sights and no cut for optic...🤔 Maybe setup for that goofy Fischer supressor which is probably equally expensive. I would look at FNH. Also expensive, but you end up with coherent package not something half thought out.

I had an HK45. Good duty gun. Very reliable. Good ergos, but had an extremely heavy trigger.

I've got one:

Very reliable, but the trigger was heavy in DA, in SA I like to ride my thumb on the safety switching it off as part of my draw stroke, like a 1911 with a thumbs FWD grip. Not possible with an HK45 due to the safety's position.

So I converted it to an LEM. I have 3 hammer HKs; HK45, P30L, and a P2K and all have been converted to light LEM.

Biggest issue was the mags, I bought 10 at $60+ per..

It’s a nice pistol and worth $900 but I like the FN 45T a lot more if you’re thinking about one or the other. The FN is one of my favorites. It’s thicker in the grip frame but the 15 round mags compared to the 10 round H&K mags is worth it for what are basically the same sized guns. The FN has a milled slide, great factory suppressor height irons, and the FN has standard threads. If you shoot with a suppressor you’ll need to buy a metric to standard adapter for the H&K. When I first went to the Narcotics Tactical unit we were issued HK USP .45’s. Nice pistol, but felt like a 2x4 in my hand. A couple years later we switched to HK 45’s. My scores improved immediately. Loved that pistol. Had to turn it back in when I left the unit. The more narrow grip fit my hand much better.

I once owned an HK USP 45 and it was very accurate with zero malfunctions but I didnt care for the ergo's. My current nightstand gun is an HK P30 40 S&W and a love it! The HK45 feels great in my hand ( better than any othe polymer 45 ACP) and Im sure it is an outstanding pistol just like the rest of the HK line, I would not hesitate to try one if I was so inclined but I have turned into a 1911 whore as of late 😁...Hb

Nothing that can't be equalled by $605 "blue/black" .45 ACP Walther PPQ M2 from Buds. Used one in practically new condition is $500.
What surprised me is that "plumbing washer" on USP barrel was rated for over 10000 rounds.
I replaced my last .45 pistol with a revolver, could not be happier.

The same could be said for most guns. Or just buy a Glock and be done with it but variety being the spice of life and all. If you like guns it’s worth having a HK or two in the collection. I’m not crazy about the paddle release but theres a certain cool and fun factor to it. It’s tough to lose much money on a HK, Colt, or S&W.

I’ve carried the M&P45 2.0 and really like it. Cheaper too. With the small grip, it’s basically the same size as an M&P9 with the medium/large grip, which is what I use for my duty gun.

With a USP .45, an Expert .45 and an HK45C in the stable, you might say I like HKs. The Expert has the best trigger but the others aren’t too far behind. All are absolutely reliable. I keep thinking I might try the light LEM (thanks Mackay) but I’m pretty happy with their DA/SA.

I have four other .45s but the HKs would be the last to go if I had to get rid of any.

Love HK. Get the Mark 23 for the ultimate in .45 ACP utility.

This is the first offensive pistol design according to Navy Seals.

That is a lot of coin for a factory gun. I think I will stick with the H&K 45 @ $750.00

I have a USP .45 ACP

They are exceedingly reliable and well built guns. They will withstand some extremely heavy loads. I have run some 250 grain Poly Coated flat points in the high 900s, around 980-990 FPS and the gun just takes it without complaint. Not loads I would ever put in other guns.

They will take .45 Super ammo without issue, but I have no need for it, as there is a point of diminishing returns when it comes to the ability to shoot quickly and accurately, and 250s at 1K is past that point for me.

Mine sees use as a test platform for loads as it is such an accurate and reliable gun.
