Enjoyed a few campfires with him.
We were at Ed's place in Texas one April wedged a tornado came through and ruined dinner, knocked a million trees down, Gene's old Dodge was the only one damaged . He took it pretty good.

Tonight while wearing "short pants", I will crack open a fresh can of
Vee-a-nees sausages to share with friends in honor of the first time I met Gene.

Not a day will go by that I wonโt miss this guy.
He was so instrumental to me during my childhood. I wanted to be just like him because he was always going fishing and hunting and taught me a lot about both. I even did a hitch in the Marine Corps because of him.
He was the best big brother a little brother could ever want.
On behalf of the rest of his family I would like to thank everyone for the kind words and thoughts.

One of Geneโs last wishes was that, at some point, we could share some of our stories about Gene with his girls.
A couple of us plan to do just that. Weโre also going to go to his fish camp and do some fishing out of his boat in some of his favorite fishing holes and recall our times with him.
My nephew was one of the beneficiaries of Geneโs generosity many years ago when he invited me to bring my nephew on a prairie dog hunt near Alice, TX, then proceeded to loan my nephew his custom rifles with all his loaded ammo to shoot.
He got a big kick out of watching my nephew shoot up all of the ammo and make some pretty spectacular shots.
Gene couldnโt have cared less about shooting, he was tickled by my nephewโs attitude and respect for Gene and his rifles.
Thatโs just a glimpse of the man he was.
