Dang! That hurts. I received a coveted Browning B-92 357 Mag years ago from a UPS delivery and the stock was broken into three pieces. I feel your pain.
Always remember that you are unique, just like everyone else.

I bought Mortimer muzzleloader from a guy in Florida. he shipped it in a wooden crate. barrel dismounted. I got it with tire tread marks across it but minimal damage to the outside of the crate. the stock was broken through the wrist.

Ouch!!!
Was it packed well?
I guess I’ve been lucky over the years….never had a gun damaged in shipping with any of the Big Three(UPS, USPS, Fed-Ex)…🤞
Did have a nice fly reel disappear though…that cost me $200.

So both UPS and USPS are capable of breaking stocks. USPS broke one I shipped. Anyone had FedEx break a stock?

I have been told by UPS employees that their package conveyor system will bend long skinny packages and that is what breaks the stocks. Like "aalf" said, disassemble or use hard case to ship.

And a Mannlicher to boot!….
With that rifle the monetary value of the insurance payout will lessen the sting but it won’t take it away entirely.😩
Why couldn’t it have happened to a Savage?🥴😁
Good luck,

Looks like something heavy pressed the bolt knob into the stock. That sucks to look at. Good luck with UPS.

Improper packaging.
Guessing you've seen the inside of a ups hub and how it operates?

Stuff gets jammed, not every belt is a straight belt. There are turns and twists sorting packages to where the need to go. Is it plaausable a human is to blame? Sure. But not likely. Especially if it were shipped in a hard case like to ought to be. They are 15$ at Walmart.

When you file your claim (UPS is self insured) they are going to tell you your item was improperly packed - and deny the claim. My claim was a trophy mule deer mount that was packed within a 2x2 frame covered with USB board and screwed to the inside of the box and that wood box was inside a large cardboard box. Upon arrival, there was a fork pallet hole through the side of the box which destroyed the mount. When I took the whole package to the UPS center the executives there actually laughed at me and said no way would they cover the damage. I took pics and names - everything was sent to the CEO of UPS and in short order I received a call asking what it would take to satisfy my claim. A deal was struck and I received a check. You have to fight these guys to the bitter end. Good luck!

I shipped a Cooper 52 to a gentleman in Washington State by UPS. The stock was broken into at the wrist. They denied insurance but after 3 appeals and a couple months they finally paid for a new stock. I once bought a Marlin model 39A for a gentleman in LA. and USPS lost the gun in shipment. The man I bought it from had to file for insurance and refund my money. Such a pain in the a - -!!!

Hard case shipments are not safe either. I shipped a gun to wy a while back. Yes in a hard case taped tightly. It had a threaded barrel which was damaged to the point it needed rethreaded . The pistol grip looked like it was beat with a hammer.2 of the latches were closed 2 were unlatched.

Man that sucks - regardless of the arrogant responses you might have gotten, and despite the fact you didn’t package it, you were the receiver. I think we all sympathize.
I’m with Aalf. If it’s a long gun or a shotgun, it will get disassembled. And of course you lessen your chances with those delivery systems if you ship in some kind of a hard case.
Wondering if the claim process is any better if you ship through Bud’s Ship my gun? I realize you prob hold an FFL, but…just thinking out loud.
