4) qualified immunity. If cops can't be held accountable for monetary damages from something like stealing cash, there is very little chance the deputy will be paying in to any settlement.
FL is no longer a Castle Dctrine state, it is the Stand You Ground State, any where any time. There is a very big difference and the STG Doctrine is way broader.
Bad part about this is it was a disturbance call involving an in progress violent event, based on an a 4th off person report of hearing such, the apartment #, etc., and No Other Person was present in the 5 year Air Force Special Operations troops apartment. He was talking to his girlfriend on his computer on Facebook. Sounds similar to a Swatting deal gone way wrong. Happened in Okaloosa County. My property line is the County line.
It will play out in the courts because there is the witness, the girlfriend on facetime, saw and head the entire event. Her story appears to be different than the Deputy's story at this point. Plus the body cam footage has been altered, resulting in a cover up charge being leveled against the Sheriff himself. We will see. how this plays out

Florida agencies respond very differently to domestic violence incidents based on how the incident gets reported.
This perp strangled a woman in full view of a restaurant surveillance camera.
No telling what the officers would have done to him if the witnesses at the restaurant had called up other people and urged them to report it weeks later.
