Looking for a straight tube Leupold 1-4 or 1.5--5 with duplex, heavy duplex or #4 reticle. Not interested in the newer Freedom series. Although they are good scopes, I don't care for the taller, more square turrets. Looking to put this scope on a Ruger/Marlin 1894 44 Mag and looking to keep it as trim and sleek as possible thus the desire for low profile adjustment caps Yes I know that open sights would keep it even sleeker, but want one set up with glass. Thanks in advance

Thanks, going to think about this one. Slightly prefer the1-4 just because lower end closer to true 1x for shooting with both eyes open at close moving targets.

To me, the Vari-x-III 1.5-5x20 is a much better scope than the Vari-x-II 1-4x20.

The one that CBinNH posted from 1992 will have Multi-Coat4 lens that they started in 1990 on the Vari-x-III's.

You would not regret buying this scope especially with the heavy duplex.
