As far south as Alabama??? I don't think i'd put money on that. I've always wanted to see it, but doubt i ever will. I'll look out for it tonight though.

Used see thrm a lot in Minnesota, Wisconsin and the Dakotas when it got below zero.
They are pretty darn awesome... one of the Good Lord's better gifts to mankind.

I’ve only seen them twice. Once off the coast of Norway and another off the Aleutian Islands. Like those in the photos, they’re pretty spectacular at 20-25,000’.

I saw them one night in Hamburg Germany, and they are fantastic! This show won't make to N. Carolina, unfortunately.

We can get some good northern lights shows here on the south side of Lake Ontario, when its not too overcast, which it usually is when these things happen. Cloudy now but calling for partly cloudy tonight. I plan on checking it out sometime before dawn. Haven't seen the northern lights in probably 6-8 years now thanks to cloud cover. Always wanted to see them from a lot further north but never had that opportunity. My dad had some great stories about seeing them in the middle of the North Atlantic ocean at night when they were hundreds of miles from any land while doing convoy duty during WW2.

Well, you could click on my link above.
But basically, the green shows the forecast intensity - highest in the dark green middle, lowest at the edges.
Only yellow (gold?) is the map of NA.
