Not sure about Utah, but here in Idaho there is no charge if SAR is called out.
There's 2 dates they carve on your tombstone.
Everyone knows what they mean.
What's more important is time that is known
as the little dash inbetween.

Not sure about Utah, but here in Idaho there is no charge if SAR is called out. There isn't in Utah right now either. Couch boomers fantasize about that in every SAR thread but it almost never happens. Unless a person is engaged in an illegal activity only New Hampshire, Oregon, and Hawaii currently have rules that allow an agency to bill for a rescue. As far as I know only NH has actually done that, and that is just the one agency that covers the White Mountains. You can still donate a pittance to many of the SAR agencies in the West in return for a promise never to bill you regardless of where the rules go.
