I had a chance to check out their new stuff the other day. Pretty much everything has changed, except the camo. Most everything is lighter in weight, and they claim has the same heat retention properties. All zippers are welded. All fabrics are stretchier and snag less. I inspected most of the items pretty closely, so if you have specific questions, ask away.

They are also coming out with a lineup that is more suited for tree stand hunting. Much more heavy weight and warmer.

The guy told me the product will be available june 1st. It looks really good. To sum it up: lighter, stretchier, cooler.

Please Elaborate on the Raingear.

Are we talking ALASKA TOUGH?

I hear there is a pack from them now also?

Theres a land where the mountains are nameless
And the rivers all run God knows where;
There are lives that are erring and aimless
And deaths that hang by a hair.
Theres a landoh, it beckons and beckons
And I want to go backand I will

I didn't see or ask about a pack. Alaska tough? Well, I guess the only way to figure that out would be to take it there. It looked pretty tough, and the guy demoing it gave it some serious pokes and stretches. It gave me the impression that it could withstand more than a normal light gore-tex shell. I'm sure you could rip it if you tried hard enough though.

They e-mailed the 2008 catalog and suspect they would send it if out if ask. Your right quite a few changes and the prices aren't going down.

Did the new rain gear have belt loops? How much did they change their pants style is it still the hip hugers or did they raise the waist? Thanks for the info.

I got the 08 catalog the other day myself. I wasn't real impressed with the new prices.

I just spoke with them by phone and I think I well might get a Mountain Shirt and Mountain Pants, but, will wait until a bit later in the year. Seems like a good set for backpack hunting when my Filson's Whipcords are a bit too warm.

I have Microtex and it is good, for the cost, but, not as tough as I expected or quite as warm in rain. Hopefully, the SG will be the one to use on backpack trips alone for 3-4 days and I have an ID sylponcho plus an ID Rundle jacket in green to keep dry and warm.

Kutenay,

Just for your knowledge the mountain pant and shirt are gone from this coming years line up. The replacement pant is around $150 if I remember correctly and I haven't quite figured out what piece is the mountain shirt replacement. Lots of places are doing closeouts on this years lineup, might be worth trying to find. I know Schnee's was having a sale.

If they can size their stuff to fit actual human beings I might be a buyer... maybe.

I like the mountain pants, although the fit(for me the inseam) is too long...

New replacement for the mountain pant looks like a winner - I'd go for it, or wait for it. I have two pair of the originals, and I really like them, but they've snagged a few times. The new ones are not supposed to snag as easy. I also like the pocket layout and the stretch of the new pants better.

As far as the shirts go, the 2007 model is still pretty dang good. If you've got it, I'd keep it. If you haven't bought yet, you might want to wait, unless you can find a great deal on close out stuff. I've seen a lot of Sitka on sale lately.

Can the Mountain Pants cargo pocket zipper be zipped/unzipped with one hand, or do you need to hold the knee with your other hand. Reaching for a map with one hand is nice when there is a rifle in your other...one thing nice about buttons. Just curious...obviously they put a lot of thought into those pants and went with zips.

You forgot to mention performance. What materials are they using in there new clothing line? Event, Scholler,Windstopper,etc.. I like looks but, also like functional clothing for the demanding ever changing weather condtions.

JRaw,
You can zip and unzip the pocket with one hand, I have many, many times! I truly understand what you are talking about!!
