The 202 appears to be a high quality gun. Are they worth the money?

I have 2 Sauer 202 Outbacks and believe they are worth every penny. I have never seen any rifle with better fit and finish, and the accuracy is great as well.

I`ve the earlier M200 -same rifle, different safety, I`m told- and feel it was well worth the money. I don`t know todays price but, IMO they are very high quality and accurate as they come.

I'm thinking I need another quality German rig.

It is a high quality gun, with a smooth action. It is too heavy for the caliber we have (6.5x55), and I dont like the safety in the trigger guard. Personally, I dont think its worth the cost to buy, but mine was a gift. I prefer my 700s, especially the Ti, so Im glad my wife fell in love with it.

The wood version is heavy at 7.7 pounds, but the synthetic is less than seven pounds. We've gotten used to safeties outside the trigger guard, but the Garand and M14 safeties were inside it, too, and they worked well. It's just what you're used to, IMO.

"Expensive" is a broad term. I see Model 202s advertised anywhere from one to three thousand dollars. The trouble is, they don't move very fast even at $1500, so if you spend much more than that on them in today's market, it's likely something you'll lose your shirt on to try to re-sell.

They have a new importer, but like other high-end Euro importers, they aren't very interested in talking to you unless you're a dealer. Think about needing parts.

So, IMO, they're extremely high quality, very accurate, and theoretically you're able to change barrels - if you can find one or they really start importing them again in earnest. If you like it, you have a real gem at the prices they're selling for in the US today.

Buy one of the lower-priced ones, even the previous Model 200, and see if you like it - they're a much better deal than Blasers, at least in price.
