I have a Stevens' Favorite that is marked J.STEVENS A&T CO so i know it was made between 1886&1916 it has 99 on bottom tang anybody know if this is the serial # or manufacture date or what.
any help would be great.

Jim,
The numbers stamped on the bottom tang of the Favorite aren't serial numbers from what I've read. I have one made prior to the Savage take over of Stevens (1920). I know that because a small Savage logo was stamped on the left side of the receiver after Savage bought out the company, logo is "SVG" in a circle. Google "Stevens" and you should turn up a good site or two. Does yours have "Model 1915" stamped on the top tang?

No markings on top tang or on frame anywhere.Real cool gun that shoots rem sub sonics very well.

Yeah, mine shoots pretty well too. I've written down what it likes but it isn't handy. Mine came with a Lyman tang sight so it'll probably do better with a better shot than me. Mine also came with a shot barrel but I haven't played with that yet.
Sweet little guns. The Favorite that they're selling now isn't even close.
