Kute, Yes, I have to address the holes and the gap in the stock. I was surprised that the screws appear to be 10-32; also that the reason one was particularly hard to remove was because they had been peened! Stuart

CZ 550 American 9.3x62 purchased new spring '07. With a 250 Accubond at 2400 fps is dropped a nice cow bison in her tracks last december. On paper at 100 yards it shoots just over 1" 3 shot groups. A sweet gun and my current favorite.

Odd man out once again!! I have a JP Sauer & Sohn Cape gun in 12ga/9,3x72R that my Dad gifted me with just before he passed away. It is about the same as a 35 Remington. Nice deer and black bear medicine. I lust, after that gun....

I had a CZ 550 FS 9,3x62mm that I sold a few months ago. Should have held onto it for awhile longer as my custom 9x3x62 won't be completed until late Spring/early summer. In the interim, I have this Chapuis RGEX 9,3x74R to play with:

I'm really thinking about a 9.3mm rebore on a Winchester pre-war Model 70 30-06 right now... I know where one is at a good price... must resist... pay down loans... (or buy more 9.3 bullets ) Query: Who has found the 9.3 to be an adequate replacement for the 338 Winchester? I have.

Am thinking Danny Pedersen at Classic Barrel and Gun Works could do a splendid job for you on that project.... www.cutrifle.com

SCGunNut, I built my 1st 9.3 in 1990 due to an article by Al Miller in Handloader #124. It is a Interarms Mk-X mannlicher w/20.5" bbl. I had it bbl'd by McGownen. It's an excellent shooter. In addition to the above, I also have: A M-98 Mauser Guild gun also in 9.3x62 Two Husky M46's in 9.3x57... One D&T'd and one not. Three 9.3x74R's, a Custom Ruger #1 w/oct bbl, A factory Ruger #1, and an Antonio Zoli Express rifle O/U. Am planning a 9.3x64... I have a Lothar/Walther bbl Blank, dies and brass. I just haven't decided what action I want to put it on as yet. I'm thinking Pre '64, M-70... but am not ruling out M-98 Mauser. (The Mauser is the most logical, because I have several already that I could use) A decade or so ago, 9.3mm cartridges were as foreign as little green Martians to the majority of American shooters. I always had a hankering for a 9.3 but hardly anybody but the true gun nuts like myself had ever heard of them, let alone owned one or had any experience with one. As per your quote... When I built my first one, No one I knew had even heard of one.

I have a 1917 Enfield bored out by Dan Pederson to 9.3X62. So far its shoots pretty good but haven't hunted with it yet.I like the fact it holds six in the magazine. It was a bit of a job to get it to feed right, but now will even feed empty cases. --- Mel

Respectfully speaking ALWAYS, what are the advantages of something like the 9.3x62 over something like the 35 Whelen? I have an Ed Brown Savanna in 30-06 that really needs to be something else now that I have a .308 again. Other than rifle looneydom pacification , why the 9.3? I'm thinking that the 9.3 would be interesting in my Ed Brown configuration.

I wonder, though, about the popularity of the 9,3x62 now that we have the 375 Ruger. The argument used to be that you could get almost a 375 H&H with a 9,3x62, and get it on a nice standard-length action. Now you can just get a 375 Ruger. I might still want a 9,3x62 though... KS

The 9.3 will certainly survive the Ruger for a number of reasons, personally, four come to mind:
1. 5-10gr less powder consumption 2. Five down in most actions, six in the Enfield. 3. Better bullets on the low end (e.g. 232gr Lapua). 4. Lower recoil with top loads.

New custom Ruger #1B rebored and rechambered to 9.3x62 and mounted in a tiger maple stock to my specs. Picture (a little over-exposed but a near approximation) available on the Ruger #1 Yahoo site under the custom rifles file.
No shooting it for me for a few more weeks pending the doctor's advice about a potential detatched retina. Damn....

I have a Blaser R-93 Professional with a 9.3x62 Attache' barrel, and I am in the process of having a standard barrel cut down to "Tracker" length. I am relatively new to the caliber, but it is quickly becoming my all-time favorite.
