Choppers are grand to ride in, but I damn sure don't want to be caught in even heavy machine gun fire in one. 113's are a ball to drive, but if you have a TC that knows what he is doing, he will use that 50 barrel on your head when you try and bounce him out in a ditch. Experience on both ends. grin

That's a 114, and you don't want to be in that either under heavy machine gun fire.

Your correct, didn't even think about that, much squatter. Mortars are okay, but I would much rather have a Direct fire weapon. Les

Violator, I sent several pix of myself in the field home to my mom, me in the PI, Australia ect.
She wrote me back and asked if all I was doing was laying back reading a book grin
I have the photo she kept of me on her desk, I'm laying across a HMMWV hood re-reading "The Lord of the Rings" for the 100th time, but what's funny is she never saw that someone was inside the hummer flipping the bird at the cameraman. You sorta have to know it's there to even see it.

My biggest gripe with the Bradley is the outdated TOW missile system, you can't be moving when you fire it, so you have just made yourself a target, even in turret defilade. They need to get rid of the TOW and replace it with a Hellfire pod, that way, they can sit behind a hill, have the GIB's kick out around the front, paint the target and off goes the Hellfire. Bang, death from above, same principal as the Copperheads. les

We walked up to a bat mortor platoon once at a ftx. The entire platoon was spread out sleeping with mre wrappers everywhere. Except for the FDC table set up with 2 guys playing cards with a huge costco size bag of cheetoes munching away. I hear tell the arty boys pack their tubes full of beer when they head out to field.

We installed custom built boxes to store the survey gear in our hummers, they all had false bottoms. grin

Don, how ironic! These soldiers are inspecting this M1A1 Abrams tank (in Grayling Michigan, of all places) to see if it has an escape hatch:

Nope, doesn't have one!

This is my son firing the Javelin at Ft. Benning. You can't really see him and the video quality is very poor, it was captured with a cell phone:

Pardon my ignorance, but what kind of a ship is that?

What are those three things midships that look a little like derricks? (but are not)

I am curious, never having seen a ship like that!
