Like others on this forum, I've inherited a fine rifle bought by my grandfather years ago. SN 770712. Other markings include
"High pressure steei - proof tested" and "model 99F"
My father kept it well oiled; it seems to be in excellent condition (the guys at Bass Pro agreeed). Any thoughts on the age of this rifle?

The gun was made in 1955 or '56 - someone will get it exact.
What's the caliber? Regardless, you have a great hunting rifle and I hope you put it to use.

bcj,
Your grandfathers Model 99-F was made in 1955. This early style Model-F was available in .250 or .300 Savage. I would guess yours might be a .300?
Your grandfather had good taste, enjoy, Rick....
