I have a Leupold 1.5-5 illuminated #4 reticle on my 458 Lott. This same scope last a couple hundred rounds on my lightweight 375 H&H so its durability is proven. I have it in Talley quick detach rings with brockmans pop up peep sight bases. I couldn't think of a better setup.

I took it out shooting yesterday and shot a 5 shot 1.5" group at 100 yards, not too shabby considering it was -2f degrees out. 350gr speer @ 2750fps has been a good load for smaller stuff up to moose.

Got my 416 Rigby yesterday, now I need to get rings and mount the Weaver 2.5x on it.

Anybody ever use a 350 grain Speer on ELK?

Will the Weaver be good scope on the 416 Rigby?

Bought one when they first came back on the market in the mid-90's ... great warranty. Destroyed x3 on a 458WinMag ... cracks developed around the reticle, you could see it flaring if you hld the scope at an angle and when it made it all the way around ... zero was gone. Ones I tried lasted between 15 and 40 shots and they were gone. Loads where 350gr Hornady at 2470fps in a 4kg sporter. Hopefully they've improved.
Cheers...

Zeiss Victory Diavari or Varipoint are good choices.

My 375 has had the same old El Paso Weaver K3 (kinda rare) on it for 35 years. I found a K2.5 El Paso Weaver (vintage 1961) that
I replaced it with about 5 years ago. 3X is for sale if you want it.

Weaver K3's are excellent for big bores. The Leupold M8 3x that is so revered is the same size as the Weaver and, having owned both, I liked the Weaver better as it had slightly longer eye relief. The ocular bell on the Weaver is also slightly smaller, allowing it to be mounted lower and still clear the bolt. Here's a picture:

Agreed that the K-2.5 or K-3 will take all that an 9 pound 375 H&H will dish out, but I consider the 375 sort of a medium bore, and I'm not experienced with what happens with kickers like the 416 Mag and the 458 Lott.

steve don't waste your money on a loopie. The b&l is a much better scope. I have one on my 35 whelen, but it has also lived on my 358 norma mag and on my 338 wm. They are great scopes. If you decide to waste your money on a loopie let me know and I would be happy to take it off your hands. tom

Anyone ever consider the scopes from US Optics? Extremely heavy duty military grade. I have one and they are unbelievable. Made to be mounted using the Picatinney rail system. Only drawback is price, they are very expensive. The one pictured here is the SN12 fixed 4X, truely a bomb prove scope. Check them out....

Another great choice for the toughest scopes on the planet from US Optics is the SN4 1X to 4X. Again they are on the high side for price but they are also the best you will find anywhere.

Hi all, wow! What a lot of responses thank you so much. Firstly to peepsight3006, thanks a lot for the kind offer, of that scope but I'll pass on that one. Pumpgun, I went with the Loopy to try and get more eye relief, the B&L is not providing enough for the 410 grain loads no matter what I do I cant get a full sight picture and have enough clearence, and with those big 410 grainers leaving the barrel at 2650fps (and still more room to get faster) the rifle is starting to comeback a little! I would be more than happy to sell you the scope but it has some pretty serious dings in the tube, and I doubt anybody would be happy to pay out good money for it.
I picked up the 2-7 cheap and I was unable to find a straight 2.5 or 3x at any reasonable price, and the VXIII 1.5-5 that I saw second hand was well over market value, and the new ones cost more than I can currently afford.
Thanks again for the advice
Steve
