He had Alzheimer's and had been in a nursing home for a year. Developed pneumonia which led to his death.

I considered him one of the "GOOD" ones.....not many left I'm sorry to say. I can remember reading his articles in magazines and seeing him on American Sportsman when I was a younger man....always enjoyed it.

Grits was one of the good ones. A good man lucky enough to see his son grow to also become a good man. If we could all be so blessed.

I seen him one time at a red light in alexandria La. I knew who he was but had no idea he was from my home state, about 50 miles north of me. Very sad to hear. But his race is ran now and he is in a better place. God Bless his family!!!!

One of the great privileges of my life was spending a week in Argentina hunting ducks and doves with Grits about 12 years ago. One day it was just the two of us in a duck blind, and even in my mid-70's Grits could still shoot! But the best part was listening to the tales after dinner....

My favorite work of his, both on TV and print, were of his visits with an eccentric old gentleman, who lived, I believe, somewhere in the boonies of Idaho. What a character, and Gresham did a great job, in sharing his visits with the viewer/reader. RIP. Here's a link to what I was referring to www.huntingmag.com/big_game/mountain_men/Jeff

About all that I can say about Grits is, "they sure don't make 'em like that any more"!

Loved his piece about the 243 win in one of the earlier Nosler reloading manuals. Gave me a whole new respect for the little six. God Speed, Grits! What a hoot you were for all of us.

God bless you, Grits.
I am saddened.
Tom, if you read this, you have my condolences and prayer for comfort in your grief. Ever since you told me I shared your father's given name, I have had a special feeling for him.
