Just wondering if anyone has any knowledge re this rifle, good, bad, etc. I see several for sale new and the prices seem fair. Thanks, Mark
I bought one a yr an a half ago for a sheep hunt. Once it arrived the safety lever was broken. I returned it , bad karma. I just bought another one in 300 win mag. I had my gunsmith rebarrel it to 264 win mag. I grilled him hard on what he thought of quality an workmanship of the colt. He would say nothing bad about it. Heres a picture of my rifle an the first six barrel brake in shots. I took my 3-9 Pentax off my 338 Lapua Improved an set it on the colt, squared it against the wall an went to gravel pit to brake in barrel. I shot a shot , cleaned barrel, shot cleaned six times. I than walked the 100 paces to see how i needed to adjust scope. The group you see is what i saw. Id buy another Colt Light Rifle in a second. The 30-06's were recalled so make sure if you buy that caliber the recall has been done. If you look you can get a Colt Light Rifle for about 400.00-$500.00. Before i bought mine i called Gentry ( i do not know him ) an asked his opionion. He had positive feedback. Good Luck, Randy
I followed these rifles after Colt bought the Ultra Light Arms business from Mel Forbes -- who is now back as New Ultra Light Arms.
I thought Colt's approach to have a custom rifle manufactured was good in theory. In practice they screwed it up by orphaning the rifle.
I have seen three of them here in San Diego, and I bought two of them (.270 Win and .30-'06) for our SCI Chapter auction a couple of years ago. I thought they were well done, and the people who won them are not complaining.
I think they are worth the prices I see advertised, but you are on your own for support.

Thanks guys, I'm further ahead than I was and am glad to know about the 30.06 because that is the caliber I'm considering. The weight and price is tempting me.mark
