I went and bought a Rem. 760 in 300 Savage today, and the guy I bought it from said he also had a 99 for sale. I asked to see it, and he pulled out a mint 99 take down in 300 Savage. The only problem was it was drilled and tapped with an old Weaver scope on it. He wanted $500.00 for it. I didn't buy it. It is still for sale, and I am wondering what the informed people on this board think about it. Thanks, Rick

Yes, the D&T would hurt the value to a collector. But the condition, model of scope and price all come into play. I'll guess that it was a pistol gripped and checkered model? If so, it's a pre-WWII Model-G. Some would be more than happy to pay $500 for the rifle while others would not. Check the scope bases for shimming. Depending on when the scope was D&T'ed, it might not be drilled to a standard current pattern.
