Hey, there's my reason!
A golf course is a sad misuse of a perfectly good rifle range.

450 NE Red Label Double...
A Holland or Purdey it is not, but I bet you'd have to act fast to get your hands on one!

Hornady was already making the .450-400 which is, of course, the .450 NE necked down.

Not really. The 450-400 3 1/4" is a 450 NE necked down. But the 450-400 3" version (aka 400 Jeffery) has a .060 rim vs .040 for the other two. And the brass is somewhat thicker also.

I spoke with a lady @ Hornady last week regarding brass. She indicated sometime around May. In talking to a well known Ruger dealer a few weeks ago, he said 1st qtr '08.
Has anyone spoken with Ruger directly?

Interesting. There is a firm whose name escapes me for now that has been chambering the Sharps 45-120 in Ruger Nuber 1's for some time now. The 450 and 45-120 cases are pretty close. Mebbe rim differences. Otw they are peas in a pod. I'd have to look at dimensional drawings to be sure but there isn't much diff.
