What is the average size of mule deer bucks in this area?

Private Land

I'm looking into going on a combo mule deer / antelope hunt north of Spotted Horse.

Your advice is much appreciated.

hunted west of sheridan on private land in 2004 and 2006. lots of deer, never saw a anything over about 150" though. if your hunting with an outfitter you might have a better setup than we had. i don't think we were too far from spotted horse. we hunted north of the powder river about 10 miles out of town. in that part of the state you don't get to hunt the rut, so you really have to hunt for them. i would try to be there opening day if i was you.

Thanks. Hunt fell through for me, but my buddy is still going to try to go.

You will find TONS of places to hunt Antelope, but the mule deer are slim pickins (in general). You will find it hard to find a place to hunt mule deer. I do know of a guy in the area that I know has some real BIG mule deers out there but it's too expensive for my pocket.

Now that Barack Obama is president, we have NO hope and NO cash.

I have hunted region C north of gillette. The antelope population is very good with some decent quality animals. Most of the antelope we have shot have been above average. The deer which we have seen good numbers the have been of poor quality. spike small forks and an occasional 3x3 with thin racks and small spreads.
It seems that they never get bigger from year to year. Its like fishing on a stunted lake.
