I dunno, that seemed like a pretty good deal to me- aside from having to spend a big chunk like that up front. A box of "big" Accubonds is over $30 around here everywhere now. I paid $34 for some 225's the other day.

HOWEVER, buying a big batch like that is probably not the thing to do anyway, until you make sure your rifle likes them. Sometimes a given rifle just won't shoot a given bullet. I'd be amazed if your rifle wouldn't shoot Accubonds; most do, but still... before you lay in a big supply you should make sure the work for you in that rifle. IMHO.

Thank you for your service to our country, and enjoy the new baby!!

Funny thing Shrapnel, those dirty tirdy cal 200 Ab's look exactly like the 2 7mm 140's I've recovered out of elk over the past few years. Not sure what the fuss is about, but I'd just pick one that shoots the best and go with it. I'd have no qualms what so ever taking a bull at 600 yards with my little pea shooter 7mm w/ 140's as long as wind conditions are doable, I don't see any reason a 30 cal 165 on up won't do just fine. FWIW, a buddy of mine runs plain old 165 Sierra GK's (from a Ruger no less) wink out of his 300 Winnie and has recorded tremendous one shot kills out to 750+ yards, a bit further than I care to take a poke, but just food for thought.

all things I am considering, a few guys have donated a few bullets for me to load test, I wish the accubonds were some, but after seeing the price I would want to hold onto every one of em too smile
I am gonna feed a few things into her and see what she likes. It's all about shot placement anyway, a few grains u or down doesn't matter much, I doubt they will be less dead with a 168 than a 180 or 200. I'll test and retest and see what I come up with.
I'll throw a posting up once in a while to keep those interested up to speed. smile

Cost, schmost... I use Accubonds to fill holes in my driveway!

:-)

I'm pretty sure I have some 180-gn Accubond 2nds I could send you a few of, IF you think that's something you might be using. Frankly I think you should use the 200-gn in that rifle (I use the 180 in a 30-06).

There's pretty much no such thing as cheap bullets anymore. There's just expensive, more expensive, and REALLY expensive. It's a bummer. When I'm shooting my .338 I use the 225-gn Accubonds because I'm practicing out to 600 yards and I really need to be using my real load, at least at this stage of the game... with a primer and powder and wear on the brass, I'm up to about a buck a shot. Sucks.

I think I will stick with the 200 grain as my first bullet to test. seems everyone has success with it so it would be logical to start from there, it is what I want idealy. maybe venture smaller later if I get bored and want to play with some new loads
I appreciate the offer though!
