I finally got around to getting some things sent back for repairs in my reloading room. I was trimming some brass with the RCBS trim pro chucked into a Milwakie(sp) drill (which they recommend, by the way). I kept it lubed and trimmed 200 once fired WW .30-06 brass on low speed. Suddenly the torque on the drill increased and the trimmer made some odd grinding noises. I shut her down and noticed the cutting shaft and bushing were seriously galled and rough. I don't know what happened, but it was't good.

I had two broken die stems as well that needed fixing....yes, I broke them, because I am big and strong I boxed up all the goodies with a letter that the screw ups were my fault and offered to pay for the repairs. I get a box back in the mail exactly one week after I SENT IT OFF! One completely refurbished trimmer and new die stems....NO CHARGE. Now that is customer service, but I didn't expect anything else from them. They have replaced TONS of stuff for me at no charge and they are QUICK! RCBS will continue to get my business for a long time.

Okay, now for Leupold. I twisted off two sets of non-dual dove tail mounts. Okay, so these are the windage adjustable mounts and I got in a hurry and twisted them off....oops My screw up completely. I also had a 3-9x scope that I wanted target turrets installed on. I boxed them all up and sent them off with a letter as well. One week after I sent them off, I get them back all replaced and new turrets on the scope. The turrets are a cost associated upgrade, but the rings and bases were replaced free!!! Leupold has always been outstanding in customer service. One week, including shipping to and from is outstanding!

I put a Burris 4x scope on a .357 magnum rifle and couldn't buy a 14" group at 25 yards with it. I ripped off the scope and the rifle shoots wonderful. Definitely a scope problem. I look the scope over and notice the front seal is bulging out in front of the lense. Ah...oh....that doesn't look good. Scope will not maintain point of aim either. This is the second Burris that has done this. I box it up and send it to Burris. That was 3 weeks ago. Still no letter from them and no fixed scope. I am sure I will have to harrass the hell out of them just like last time to get anything done. I actually got the president on the horn last time around. I got REALLY sick of the [censored] heads in customer service and went to the top. I had a pending hunt and they had my scope for A MONTH, with tons of promises that it would ship out the next day....which never happened. I finally gave them $75 to upgrade the scope...per the president. I burned up a TON of longdistance charges nagging them and a lot of patience. It looks like I have to do it again. Burris sucks! I had a Burris scope once, but I traded it away FAST.

Whew, out of the closet at last!

You should be grounded immediately and restricted from outdoor activities for using a Burris scope. Your fault. Lessoned learned, eh?

Flinch,

I agree with everything you say. To bad you had some trouble with a Burris product. I've got Burris scopes on a number of rifles(14) and have not had a problem with any. You can have problems with any scope, including Leupold as I did and it took a few letters and a couple of phone calls to get the scope repaired(no they didn't charge me just told me to use the right scope for the right job next time because the next time there would be a charge). Even with what happened I still think Leupold are one of the best scopes made along with Burris. Lawdog

I myself could not be any happier with RCBS customer service. They have replaced stuff for me for free EVERY time. They even replaced something I had lost. I have mingled with other manufactures, but RCBS will always get FIRST consideration from me.

Leupold is a R-E-A-L class act.

I have a stainless steel coffee mug from them --got it for Christmas for me--there was an ad for it in the scope box.

The handle broke off. I sent an email to them about it, and lo and behold a new one appears in the mail.

That Leopold reputation really means something to them.

Kudos to both Leupold and RCBS. Weatherby and Sierra treated me badly.

I just sent a scope to leupold as the power ring seemed a bit stiff to turn, at least to me. they repaired it and had it back to me in about 10 days, not cost. I have sent them a number of things over the years, nothing really broken, just little things. they always sent the "repaired" scope back in a hurry. I almost always buy leupold because I know they will stand behind the product, no matter what. I own a few swarovskis but they are only warranted to me, if I sent in the product registration.

Couple of years ago I had a rifle that was knocked off a table. the first thing to hit the floor was the ocular lens which broke off. I was a 30 year-old Leupold 2X7. I sent it to Leupold with a note explaining what had happened, asking that they repair it and send me a bill. In two weeks I had a BRAND NEW 2X7, no charge! Above and beyond as far as I'm concerned. More details on the Luepie repair.

Eleven years ago I bought a Beeman Kodiak(magnum springer type) air rifle. I was told that ANY Leupold scope would be fine to put on it by the fellow at the store. Got a 3-9x A.O. and after sighting it in I was shooting different pellets to see which were the best to use. After about 30 shots the rifle wouldn't group any more. It patterned. While turning the rifle over I heard a rattle coming from the scope. It was broke inside. Sent it off to Leupold with a note stating what had happened. Got a call from Leupold about three weeks(this was after a couple of letters from me and a phone call) later and was told that they were going to fix the scope but the scope was NOT rated for springer air rifle use and to use the proper scope on my air rifle. When I got the scope back they had included a list of their scopes that were rated for air rifle use. All this was my fault. No excuses, except it was my first springer air rifle and I didn't know what a magnum springer air rifle could do to even a good scope. Now I make sure every scope I put on ANY air rifle is rated for "air rifle use". Lawdog

I've had a number of Burris scopes and never had a problem with any of them, even in the local bush, soaking wet for days and on heavily-recoiling rifles and handguns. I did send a Leupold 2X EER scope back some years ago for repair - something was rattling inside. It took them awhile, but they eventually sent back a brand new scope.

RCBS has a wonderful guarantee - lucky for me! I have returned far more RCBS products than any other product line I own - except for Craftsman tools. Same kind of replacement guarantee for both brands. Same kind of failure rate too. I send the RCBS stuff in for replacement and wait and wait without the tools I need. I eventually learned my lesson, and don't buy RCBS products anymore if I can help it.

I've gotten good service from RCBS (Stupid Reloader Tricks!).

Can't say anything about either Leopold or Burris, as I've had both scopes (2-7 VII, and a Burris 6X Compact) about as long (20 plus years), without a problem with either. I WILL NOT BUY A REDFIELd!!!!!! Even though I believe they have rupgraded both their product and customer service since i had 3 scopes go belly up on three successive years way back in the early 70's. No Bushnell's either. Had too many of those come thru my gunsmithy for repair. Mid to upper end Tasco's have been good to me, although I know many don't like them.

A simple e-mail to RCBS has always gotten results for me--the last time was a broken inertia puller--only took a week to get the part--free of any charge. Steve
