Can anyone recommend a brass catcher for an AR? Our shooting bench on my dad's place was not set up with autoloaders in mind. Lots of thick vines and brush right were the emptys fly, otherwise I would just lay out my tarp. It's an even bigger pain at the public ranges.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

If looks aren't important, a $.79 minnow net taped to your stock and covering your ejection port works pretty slick. Holds about 15 rounds at a time.

Wook makes a great brass catcher, but it's quite expensive. DPMS sells them for about $40,00. Condor makes one as well. It is similar, but not as nice as the Wook, but sells for about $10.00.

I have the Leapers catcher that DTech provided a link to, and it works pretty good. Just make sure you flex the wire open so the brass will fly into the bag and not bounce back into the action and create a jam. With that said, it works as advertised.

I use a fishing net that I attach to my shooting table with a U bolt. It works great. Just cut the handle off and stick it in the U bolt and start shooting.

I own 2 Bushmaster brass catchers and have found them to be much less flimsy than many others out there.

Just cut out the appropriate sized side of a plastic apple juice/milk container ( I use the side of the Costco plastic apple juice containers....works perfect....nice and firm) and insert it into the brass catcher so it holds it shape parallel to the ground when shooting. The spent cases then fly freely into the catcher rather than hitting the catcher netting that is hanging down with those not so reinforced.

Works great...........

1)After a few pcs. of brass the bag starts pulling vertical and closes off the bag from the nylon shoot..

2)And if you dont mind flipping your gun to the side to let the brass fall after the bag starts getting heavy it starts to slip down..

I wouldn't buy it unless you are going to MTY every few rounds

I've used the redneck method and just set a cardboard box on it's side with the open part facing the ejection side of the rifle. The box is just tall enough to be the same height as the ejection port, and I set it just far enough away that it doesn't interfere with me or the rifle while shooting.

It's not pretty, but for just shooting from a bench at the range, it works and didn't cost anything.

We run Brass Catchers on our MILES rifles.
They all stink, and I am sure the DOE has tried all of them to date.

But if ya just gotta use one, the WOOK(Modified a bit for our Rifles) puts up with the abuse we give them.
(I still HATE the things)
