Wasn't sure which form to put this link. But at this site and several others people are asking about this pack. So here's a link if anyone is wondering. http://www.adventureoutfittersinc.com/index.html

Shag:
I have this pack and have used it to haul out one elk so far. Pack handles loads well. Probably my favorite feature is the sleave that you can slide quarters into once the bag has been removed.
I stopped using this pack for day hunts and started using my late season. I just couldnt justify hunting with an external frame for such short periods of time.
Nice pack but I am not so sure it is worth the price tag they are asking.

I have looked at this pack twice and am thinking about the frame only. I have one friend who has been using it for several years and swears by it?
If there is any proof of a man in a hunt it is not whether he killed a deer or elk but how he hunted it.

The frame will definetly carry more weight than my legs or back will allow.
I think you would be happy with the frame, it would easily pack a whole deer out, I packed both front shoulders of my elk and the rib/neck meat out on my last load and it was very comfortable.

I and my brother-in-law have this pack and we love it. The pack weighs considerably less than a Badlands and has better compartments for a spotter and tripod.
Why is it called a double u, should'nt it be called a double v?

I used the pack in Colorado this year to pack out a deer and it was not that comfortable. I would class it with a Bullpac on comfort. I personaly thought if a guy loaded it up the frame would brake. I also took the pack off the frame one time and it was a pain in the a**. Anyway that is just my 2 cents.

I've been using the "Hard Core Hunt Pack" for 3 years and can say it is the best pack I have ever used. First off the frame WILL NOT BREAK!
Mine is comfortable. If a guy is having issues with his I would strongly recommend calling Jeff at Adventure Outfitters and talking to him. He suggested a few things to me about how I should adjust the pack and they made a big difference.
As for taking the pack off the frame all I can say is practice it at home a few times when your watching a ballgame. It will get much easier. I find this to be one of the best features of the pack.
They're not cheap, but for a guy who carries a spotting scope and tripod, camelbak, laser, raingear, food, waterfilter, game bags, bone saw, etc... and still can haul out a quarter of an elk or a whole boned out deer with the same pack and not have to make two trips it's worth every penny.

Could anyone tell me if this pack differs from the Wilderness packs from Oregon? They seem at first glance to be very similar.

Theres a land where the mountains are nameless And the rivers all run God knows where; There are lives that are erring and aimless And deaths that hang by a hair. Theres a landoh, it beckons and beckons And I want to go backand I will

The frame looks to be similar to the Hard Core Hunt Pack. The pack itself is definately different.

I believe Ken at wilderness makes the Janssens? I own the frame only and use it as an all in one pack. I use 2, 20liter dry bags for my gear, they strap agains tthe pack and weight 4 ounces a piece From wilderness the pack frame is ~120 bucks. It comes in just under 4 pounds which is pretty incredible considering a mystery ranch is exactly twice that weight. The Frame is Gen IV M.O.L.L.E. frame used by the army with a significantly improved suspension system You aint gonna break that frame. I have a ton of pictures of some modifications, but dont know how to post them on this forum, you can check them out here http://forums.bowsite.com/tf/bgforu...threadid=347610&MESSAGES=78&FF=5
Simple should not be confused with easy

. . . the pack frame . . .
It comes in just under 4 pounds which is pretty incredible considering a mystery ranch is exactly twice that weight.
I have the MR/CB Cerberus and all set up it does weigh about 8 pounds. However, if I pull the bag off of the frame, the frame alone weighs about 4 pounds (the bag is made of some heavy cordura and has lots of PALS webbing. I wish that the bag was not as heavy). Anyway, not trying to take anything away from this frame. Just wanted to point out that you are not exactly making a true comparison here (comparing a frame to a frame and a bag). If you compare frame to frame the weights are very similar and sounds like yours is probably a little lighter, but not by half.
