Lubbockdave, I put a Leupold FX-6 x 36 gloss on mine. Classic-styled scope on a classic, circassian stocked rifle. If a rifle and scope can be considered sexy, this combination is . Still working up handloads for mine, but can tell it will be one of my more accurate #1's....

Dave, I put gloss Leupold Vari-X III 2.5x8's on mine. I think the size of the scope fits the lines of the rifle very well, and I like a variable scope. I sure wish that they would make this exact rifle in about a 1/2 dozen other calibers!! I just feels so good... Todd

Gotta love those 2.5x8s...I have one on my #1 S26M. A 1.5x6 Leupold would fit those lines very nicely too. Here lately though, the Leupold 2x7 has become one of my favorite scopes. The size and weight is just right most of the time, the glass (to my slightly aging eyes) is plenty bright, 7x is more than enough for anything, and you'll save a little money too. I just wish I had I #1-AH of my own to contemplate the same decision.

I also went with a FX 6 x36. Looks great, is light weight, plenty bright and reasonably priced. I have the same in matte on my 1-A in 7x57.

My 25-06 is a #1V. It came new with the Ruger high rings and I put a new Redfield 3-10 X 50mm variable on it (great scope for the money). It's a large bell scope but does not look out of place on the gun and doesn't affect the balance either. The rig shoots like a house afire. I have a Burris Fullfield II 2.5-8 X 33mm scope with a long eye relief that I may swap out this summer but first I want to get low rings that place it closer to the barrel.

I went with a M8 6x42 on my B78 25-06. It has *rugeresque* eye relief issues. Rawhide drives a VX-III 2.5-8 on his No. 1 280. Leupy eye relief is a big plus with such a rig. I personally can't see the need for anything *more* or *less* than 6x on a 25-06. Of course there is a certain balance to a fixed power scope on a single shot rifle. Variables are for guys that need more than one shot ... right? GE
