New gun, new cartridge. I would like one in .338 Fed.

I am in the camp of wanting to see what they are bringing before I get my panties in a wad. Might actually be worth it, you damn sure can't fault the 110 Series rifle that comes out now, every bit as good as any of the Mod 70's and 700's out there. Les

It'll be interesting to see what chamberings are made this time.

That might be a kicky little beast. Should be no worse than a Brush Gun in .358. Expat

I like to see them chamber the 260 Rem. Future collector caliber. But if they just do 243, 7-08, 308 and 338/358, they'll have plenty of customers I would guess.

What I'd really like to see is the throats cut to the size of the magazine maximum or thereabouts so you could seat the bullets just off the rifling. Can't do that with any I have now.

If it's a decent rifle, I will own one, if for no other reason that to try it out.
The original design is superb, and as long as they stay relatively close to the design of the action and handling, it'd be hard to go far wrong.

Well, I have given this a lot of thought. Yes, I would buy one but, in order for that to happen Savage must produce it as such: 1. It needs to be chambered in both 250 and 300 Savage. 2. It needs to be internal rotoary magazine and lever safety. 3. They must create a new Savage Cartridge. Could be based of a current wildcat, 6.5x284, or 264 Savage Express! (could also be a 30 or 25 caliber) 4. They must do a limited run (1899) rifles, T/D in the four (or five) Savage Cartridges. 5. They need to have different grades of wood, with possible options on wood style (eg,r,f,T) Thats my .02's. Even if they don't produce it that way, I may still purchase one!

We'll have to see if Bert chimes in. He punched a few rounds through Mike's .338 Federal M99DL at the last Fest. Don't recall that he was pushed back too hard.

Sactoller, I agree..The .250-3000, the .300 Savage and the .358 Winchester, with the original brass rotary magazine with good wood..and maybe some fancy checkering and engravig options? A few e mails to the CEO might help them solidify on what exactly they are going to reproduce..:) Jim

There is nothing in the Savage action(including the receiver) that can't be investment cast. It's fast production, cost saving etc. No more steel butt plates, a nice rubber recoil pad would be better, and all actions D&T for scope. Bring the 99 into the 21st century.

I mentioned that to Ron early last fall . Investment cast will drastically cut down on machining . All that would need to be done is the final cut on the critical dimensions or surfaces that need a fine finish . The parts come out of the mold darn near the desired size with less than 1% shrinkage It is also a much more perfected science than forging . Much more predictable . They may / may not be looking into the MIM process for the smaller , complicated internal parts . I believe they use this process for the AccuTrigger and small parts found on their bolt action line . Ron much prefers the forging process ..

Investment Casting could be the way to go in my humble opinion. I would also like to see high grade wood options and engraving, even if were parted out to Turkey, Spain or Italy then assembled in the good ole USA. Can you case color investment castings? Below is a Rizzini made SIG with a case colored reciever. Is this type of case coloring too far from the classic early models for peoples taste? Throw some opinions out there.

Throw some opinions out there. Ok .... I will Can you case color investment castings? I believe that if the cast parts are not hardened - and are made of a low carbon steel equivalent to 8620 , they can be color case hardened . Is this type of case coloring too far from the classic early models for peoples taste? Yes , I would say - that shotgun receiver is " flamboyantly " attractive . ..... For my tastes , I prefer a little more purples with a nice blend of straw color and whites ... kinda' like this : even if were parted out to Turkey, Spain or Italy then assembled in the good ole USA. Bite your tongue ..... Due to the last Mediterranean experience , I don't think Savage would go that route .
