I just got a Monarch 4-16X42 scope that I had ordered. Open up the box and here is the scope and cleaning cloth and instructions. No scope covers. Is this normal nowadays? This would make the first scope I have purchased that didn't have them included so was kinda wondering what is going on.

Sounds like someone on the Phillipian assembly line didn't get the email. All of mine came with them, but haven't bought one in 3 years.

Well, I just got off the phone with Nikon. They are sending me the covers. The guy I talked to said they knew of some that got sent out without them as there was a defect in the cover bungee. Maybe I was just supposed to let it go or something.

Besides all of that, how do you like the scope? Let us know what you guys think. Thanks.

I just got the scope on Friday. Was going to put it on the 223 Hawkeye over the weekend, but didn't get around to it. I had a cheaper Nikon scope (originally put on inline muzzleloader) on hand when I bought the Hawkeye and it worked good for coyote calling, but now that I am using the Hawkeye for jackrabbits, a little more will sure help.

I am hoping it will be similar to the 4.5-16.5 x 50 (Nikons) that I have on my 22-250 & Swift.

Will hopefully get it put on this week and have better weather to get it sighted in.

Very sad news boys and girls. I bought a New Monarch 5x20x44MM a few weeks ago from Midsouth. $423.00 bucks. Mounted it and brought my other rifle with a Bushnell 4x16 Elite 4200 . At 100 yards bullet holes were way easier to see on 16 power with Bushnell then on 20 power with Nikon. So as of tonight I sold Nikon $40 bucks cheaper ( For quick sale) to get the new Elite 6500 2.5x16x50MM. New Nikon Monarchs are in the dive mode.

The last Monarch I bought- Phillipeno really sucked. I think they may be on a down slide.

My Jap made Monarch is pretty darn nice.

I just bought the same scope. No covers. Shop said Nikon doesn't include them. Suppose I'll have to call Nikon.

I like the scope so far.

I have never seen a bushnell I like more than a nikon.Nikon is a clearer scope to me and eye relief seems to be better in most cases. If the nikon is focused good it is tough to beat.

Update.

Saturdays mail had a package from Nikon. Open it up and instead of the normal bungee type covers that I was expecting, here is a set of Bushwacker flip open covers.

Was it focused? Many people just slap the scope on the rifle without focusing to their eye.
