I havent worked much with Ruger rifles, but I bought one of .308's with the circassian stocks. I dont care for the rings it came with also they are about a half inch to high for my liking. Any advice on what has worked for well for you guys would be great. Thanks Darryl

There just aren't a lot of people making rings for Ruger 77's. Leupold does, and they are fine. I have some for a Ruger and like them. Warne did make them but stopped. Talley never did make Ruger rings.

As far as I know Warne still does. I just bought another set of the Warne quick detach rings for a Ruger 77. They have been the best rings I have found yet. got them from cabelas http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/t...l&Nty=1&Ntt=warne+&noImage=0

These, made by S&K, are the best looking that I have found.

Now that sir is a clean looking set of rings! I've of heard S&K before but have never had as good a view of their rings before now. VERY impressive!

Looking for effective rings for a Ruger m-77 is like seeking a right answer to a wrong question! Their system is a poor one, in my book. Here is what I did: 1) Buy a Weaver one piece base for a Rem 700 2) Mill the underside to fit the top of the action 3) Drill and tap the receiver to match the holes in the base If you are dealing with a stainless steel receiver, buy one of Brownells "Perfect" taps (2 flute!) and a TIN coated drill bit and use the best cutting fluid you can find (I use Cool Tool).
This should work just as well for other systems; I just happen to like Weaver. Also I recommend using 8-40 screws. Go slow, measure carefully and you will have a good clean installation that is compatible with your other rifles. Glenn

Thanks for the suggestions. It seems to be a problem to get the scope mounted low if using 32mm or even 36mm. The rifle I am refering to is a limited run rilfe so I am not sure I want to drill the receiver. Tony, where do you find S&K rings I would maybe try them if they are low enough. Darryl

Earl,
Thanks for posting the S&K web site. Been looking for a scout scope set-up for a Nagant M44. Don't want to cut the bolt handle. Looks a lot better then that piece of crap B-Square mount that I purchased. What a hunk of crap. Maybe now I can take a deer with the old 7.62X54R. I'll be able to see him a little better. The open sights are blurry.

rings look really nice, unfortunately they are no longer available.
just talked to the owner, & they no longer make them, said they were time consuming to make, & not enough request for them.

I got the same from S&K, but they said they do have a base and rings arrangement for Ruger.
