I've got a couple places on my ranch that have been good for a trophy buck for the last few years and I would like to put up a couple of nice tower blinds. What is a good brand of manufactured blinds? Cost isn't a huge issue since we like to be comfortable but a good value is always nice. Any feedback is appreciated.

Not sure what part of the country you are from but if you can get a hold of a Texas Trophy Hunters magazine(a magazine i pretty much detest for reasons that have nothing to do with true free ranging trophy deer hunting)they will have numerous adds in there for some pretty nice and well built tower blinds. There are probably more tower blinds in Texas than any other place on the planet.

Forget the plastic contraptions. Get: http://northtexasdeerblinds.com/Check out the fiberglass six shooter or the 4x4 if you want a lower priced. I have built and hunted from many tower blinds, there's two things you don't want: Plastic and Tin, both of those are LOUD. Wood or Fiberglass are the only ways to go. Have a Good One Reloader7RM

Here's another. I've had one of the smaller ones for 2 years now. No problems. Mine is not elevated above the 18" base yet, but their leg kits look pretty tough.

Have a Good One Reloader7RM Don't kick the walls and drop crap and noise ain't a problem . I've hunted from about every type made at one time or another. There are some very good blinds made from plastic, however I have to agree with Reloader if money is not a big issue for you then fiberglass is the way to go, wood is good and cheaper too, but so much heavier to move. For what its worth we have two of the plastic ones called "The Blynd" that are over twenty years old and still going strong. One thing for plastic, they are light and easy to move if you need to move them. Bill

The "Sportsman's Condos" comes in 3 sizes, the 4'-6" wide looks like the one.

Here ya go: http://www.texasdeerstands.com/stumpy, you can glue carpet or glue 1/4 neoprene type foam in them and it works well. You can find the neo type foam at comercial carpet dealers, it's a thin durable carpet pad used in high traffic commercial areas. Good Luck Reloader7RM

stumpy Sure can. We used insulated duct board cut to fit perfectly in our metal blinds. Something like Tyvek would probably work just as well.

I have three of these, one 10 foot and two 15 foot. All are the 6 foot diameter which is the only way I would go. You can easily spend a whole day in one. Just don't forget a pee bottle!! Mike

BOWHUNR, you can also mount a funnel in the corner and attach a length of surgical tubing and run it to the ground. That way you don't have to remember which bottle of tea is the right one. GWB

So much for scent control....
Amazingly my buddy (and I) are paranoid about scent, take the clothes off when we are done, bag it up, have cedar limbs in bag etc... comes from bowhunting... His parents stand in the campfire smoke, same clothes and so on. They are continually amazed how many deer Danny sees and how few hang around them.....
Not that it won't work, but I wouldn't pee out the blind on a bet...
And old deer doesn't get that way from ignoring none common odors...and if you think they don't scent check.....
I actually wished everyone pee'd out of their blinds... would help out.

It is no big deal to take a plastic jug in the day pack to pee in. Not to mention it keeps the ladder from being so nasty when getting in and out of the stand.
