I'll be darned. I just checked again and got the same "moved or deleted" message. I wonder what I've done to piss off Photobucket.

jockc, they still show up for me? They must still be in your computer or memory cache. I went to photobucket in the album AllenMelanie there are only 4 photos and those reference a backpack.

Vibe, how did you get the info from my photobucket account? I sure am a newbie at this pic thing. I better be careful what pic's I put in the PB account:) --Allen--

Well... If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Such a nicely done photo essay by TX that construction was easy. Thing went together in less than 2 hours. Waiting on stove pipe (Does Ti-Goat generally answer their emails?) and I'll need to add a draft hole.

Awesome North,
Any chance of you posting some more pictures (close ups, stove broken down, etc). Thanks
P.S. I may run up to Ti Goat next week and buy a stovepipe (I live about 15 minutes away). If you have no response, let me know and perhaps I could pick it up and ship it to you.

I think everyone needs to get a 3-inch pipe. I don't really like the smaller pipes. I was looking to fool around and make a stove using a standard stove pipe body and end caps. God knows I don't need another stove. But just can walk away from messing around with them. http://minibulldesign.com/myadventure/index.php?blogid=1&archive=2008-02

North61,
That is too cool. You seem to be into the stoves and building this thing out of sheet metal was pretty much a walk in the park for you. Please let me know if you want to off load that little gem and make improvements/upgrades on your next try. I would brag about your prototype of a prototype and give you two (Tx and yourself)credit and kudos.

More Pics of My "Ode To Tx Stove". The Whole Stove..next to my Telemark boot( Size 13) Dissassembled Parts Packed with an Optimus 111 for scale On edge Marlin...we have a shear and brake at the school where I work. This saves a lot of time. I made a model in bristol board and then laid it on the sheet metal as a time saver. Easier to make this stove than to make a solid one! If I find a source of stainless sheet cheap I'll send you this galvanized model. I used light gauge galvanized stove pipe as my material. Cut off the crimps and rolled it out of round to get flat stock. Cost 6.00 and 5.00 for 5/16 threaded rod and nuts and 2.00 for the hinges. Total Cost 13.00 at NWT prices.

Have four feet of Ti-Goat roll up titanium pipe ordered. Have figured out a way to rig up a stove jack to the zippered door of my Outdoor Research Night Haven which is my tarp tent solo of choice. It gives excellent bug protection and good ventalation.
So when the pipe arrives I'll do 2 hours worth of good outdoor burns to burn off the galvanized coating and I'll be all set!

The Home Depot by me sells 8 inch by 12 inch galvanized shingles. I've purchased a few and made the equivalent of at least 2 stoves (I've never worked with sheet metal and have no tools (i.e. a brake) so there is a bit of a learning curve). I have not "burned" one yet as I am a little concerned about the zinc in the galvanized coating, but I did run up to Ti Goat and get a stove pipe the other day. So my question is: Is stainless steel just stainless steel? I've called 2 places locally. One told me they were bidding a job and would have a small piece of 26 guage stainless sheet metal left over (2' by 3') that they'd sell me for $120. The other place said that the smallest piece they had was 4' by 10' and I could get it for $150, again 26 guage. No brainer there which is the better deal but I don't need a 4' by 10' piece. Then I found this site on line: http://www.onlinemetals.com/merchan...howunits=inches&id=233&top_cat=1The "304 Annealed" seems very reasonable but again, is stainless steel just stainless steel?

Stainless steel varies just like regular steel. It all depends on the alloying and the post treating. 300 series SS such as 302, 304, etc have the highest stain resistance where as the 400 series is tougher and harder - this is an extreme simplification of the properties.
304 stainless should make a good stove. It is realively soft and ductile(easy to form, not brittle).

Miner, that site even offers custom cuts (at considerable mark up) so you could order all the pieces pre-cut and ready to go if you just had a pattern...
