He made some of the best movies, and some of the worst. At least his politics was always consistant. He was a great American.

I guess he'll give up his guns now. Famous quote he made still-- you remember fellas. We Canadians remember it. Michael Moore sure wasn't one of his buddies. RIP

<snip> Michael Moore sure wasn't one of his buddies. RIP Right on, 378! I recall seeing that Michael Moore taking advantage of Mr. Heston's advancing illness to ridicule him in an interview (and, by association, all members of the NRA). Even had I not disagreed with Moore's political stance, I would liked to have kicked his a$$ for the way he stooped to using Heston's progressing Alzheimer's disease to make Heston look bad. Heston had been failing for a while, but he still tried to fight the good fight for what he believed in and agreed to meet Moore for an interview. Well, Heston came out looking a bit like a faltering old man, but Moore was the one that came out looking really bad! (I had to edit what I actually wrote about Moore because this is a family site). Moore really just has NO class. John

Heston was one of the great leaders of the gun rights movement. I got to meet him (briefly) at the NRA convention in Charlotte NC about 7-8 years ago. 378Canuck: I do remember his famous "cold dead finger" remark - a line in the sand for all gun owners! Odessa

Could not agree more. Moore is despicable. He is an animal and he looks like one...
Is it too ambitious or too naive to look for an honest politician? Or simply a useful one?

"From my cold dead hand!" Awesome man and a true crusader for the NRA and Canada's version also.

As someone who has personal experience with Alzhiemer's he likely has been gone for some time. Mercifully, for him and his family, his body gave out. RIP.

Last of the Great old time Movie Stars, I am old enough to have seen Ben Hur in the theathers. I am going to rent it once I get settled in my new job. Will Penny is one of my favorites of his.
