I would like to recommend OPTICS FOR THE HUNTER by John Barsness to anyone who is considering a hunting related optics purchase. He addresses specifics and names names unlike most advertiser supported hunting magazines. Best money I've spent in some time. Regards, Matt.

Paul,
I bought mine through Banres and Noble online( www.bn.com ). Doubtful to find it at a local store, atleast in my area. Hope you find it of value. Best, Matt.
[This message has been edited by Matt in Virginia (edited January 30, 2001).]

I want to belatedly second the
recommendation "The Optics for the Hunter"
by John Barsness. I read it, liked it,
recommend it, even understood a lot of
it
I picked up my copy at the Borders bookstore
near the NRA HQ. Come to think of it, the
NRA Museum has a gift shop with a great
selection of shooting books. (I used to work
near there and would wander over
occasionally.)
My regrets regarding the recent
unpleasantries at the "other" chat site. But
it looks like a lot of good has come out of it with this active and informative site.
(And it even has a spell checker!)
Regards,
Tree
Paul
Amazon.com has it for $19.96 . That's where I bought mine ( got tired of seeing Matt in Virgina doing commercials for it (( grin )), so I broke down and bought it , sure glad I did , I don't agree with everything 100 % as we all should base our opinions on personal experiences , but it's a really good reference , I learned a lot from it ) .
Good luck !!
bounty-hunter

I've seen it in stock at the Hastings book/CD/video store chain. The one in Rocky Mount NC has 2 copies for sale. Odessa
