It came today, and I took off early to try it out...brought it home and cleaned grease out of it for an hour.

Winds were gusting to 50 mph, so I didn't get much a feel for its accuracy, but it shoots.

I was able to compare it to the 375 Whitworth I have here, and the Whitworth is much smoother and better machined inside. The exteriors are about equal quality finish. I dropped it into an old Whitworth stock I had sitting around, and the fit is about perfect. I have a newer and better one on the way and will make the change. I hope the factory stock burns, as firewood is about all the use I can find for it; it won't even make a good club. crazy Besides, its ugginfugly!! eek

I topped it with a Leupold VariXII 1-4 in Leupold QD mounts and bore sighted; I'll sight it in and report back with some pix tomorrow.

Is that the Safari model? What are you shooting in it?

No, it is the standard mdl with the 26" barrel. I am shooting up some 350gr ammo and will load 500gr Hornadys soon. It shoots well at alomos 1MOA with the 350s I loaded several years ago, and I have high hopes for the 500gr loading. I'll be trying IMR4064, WW748, and H4895. The Safari grade I could find was $300.00 more than this particular gun, and all I get for that is a barrel band sling stud and better wood, and a 22" barrel. I prefer 24" and 26" barrels, so the Safari wasn't worth the extra $$$.

Although the Safari lists for only about $100.00 more, they are selling for MUCH more!

FWIW try AA-2230 powder with your 500gr bullets. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with the results.

PHOTOS ADDED

I regret I have to sell this and some others...but here is what they look like. It shoots as well as my MK X Alaskan 375 and former Whitworths, the Whitworths being a bit smoother.
