I need a left hand M70 LT take off stock, will use it in the duplicator as a pattern, so condition is not too important.

Could use a right hand stock.

John,

Is this the stock your looking for?...

If so, I'll send it your way.

Can your duplicator do inletting? I have a blank McMillan stock that needs inletting, including the bolt handle notch.

While it would be nice to work out a deal involving inletting the McMillan, it's not a big deal. I'll send the wood stock in appreciation for all your help on these forums.

Let me know if you still need it. Oh, the barrel channel has been hogged out to a Douglas #5 contour.

Pretty sure that the stock pictured is a LH "Sporter" stock - these came on the first runs of the leftie Model 70's circa 1998. Winchester switched righties to the LT design about one or two years later but did not come out with left hand LT's until mid-2002. The LT stock will have a black recoil pad and a definite transition or step from the inletting around the magazine to the forend. Also, the grip and forend will be more rounded than the Sporter design.

BTW - not trying to throw a monkey wrench into anybody's plans - but if I can be so presumptuous, I think John is looking for the leftie LT stock for two rifles he will be building for me, at least to start.

Jim,

That's okay. The stock pictured is the one from my 416 Taylor (originally a 300WM). It's now wearing the plastic stock which I believe you sold me. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I'm still wondering about the duplicator doing inletting, as I need to pay someone to do that. Might have to go back to McMillan.
