I'm a slow learner I guess. Didn't buy my first .30-06, a pre-64 model 70, until two or three years ago. I bought my first rifle in the 70's, a 7mm Mag Browning BBR. Seems everybody else owned a .30-06 and I just always wanted to do something different. Sure glad I finally came to my senses, though.

I should have one 30-06: a Rem 742 carbine that was my first centerfire and deer rifle. Sold it....love single shots but can't say I miss that one.

I have 2. Both are Pre '64 Model 70s one Featherweight and one Sporterweight but I'm selling the Sporterweight.

Shane, what does she tip the scales at?

Weighs about 15 lbs. Barrel is a Douglas #7 contour, 22" long. It's about .94" diameter at the muzzle.

It shoots everything from 110 VMax to 240 Matchkings at better than .5 moa. Printed a .18" 3-shot group in a recent postal match (Smack the Smiley). Was dusting clay birds at 500 yards yesterday with boring consistency.

I love reading threads like this; like to see what guns are floating around.
I have just one; I just bought it back in January. Its a Nikko Golden Eagle model 7000. Let me tell you, for a gun company that didn't stick around too long, the one i have is one of the best shooting guns I own, and prettiest(loves blue box Federals)- shadowed only by my Savage model 99 300.

Only two at the moment. A Beretta Mato synthetic and a Smith-Corona 03-A3. On the look out for another. My son wants a CZ 550 so we will see what the future holds.

fish30ought6,
Yeah, hard to get parts for though.
Paid $550 for mine, I might be persuaded to trade for a nice M70 or new Savage American classic... wink
