On my "new" 1899B, serial number right around 16.000, there's the serial number stamped on the buttplate like normal.
But, there's also "SAV-35" stamped on it.
Nice big letters..
Any ideas? Don't remember seeing a discussion involving this.

Rory I had a 303 SRC that was stamped the same way, if I rember right! John

Didn't think I'd be the only one. The stamping seems vaguely familiar, but couldn't find anything on a search. Thought it was a good time to bring it up again.

I'm pretty sure that's the casting number. On all of them.

"SAV-35" is cast into the majority of the cresent plates.
