I daresay that it's more fuel for your fire. laugh There was nothing at all positive about Dr. Phil in that article.

You might try going to msn.com and see if you can get to it from there. It was one of the 3 main stories in that revolving window they have. The article is called "Dr. Phil's Bad Medicine."

When Dr. Phil first began, I really did like his show because he "told it like it is." He'd tell someone that it was their responsibility to clean up their life... and no one else's, etc. Holding people accountable for decisions they make, and helping them to make better ones in the future, is a good thing, IMHO.

That said, I have to admit that in the past few years, Dr. Phil has strayed over into the "trash TV" of Jerry Springer, Maury, Montel Williams, etc. The more sensational the story, that's what he wants. And where he used to give good advice back at the beginning, now he just brings the folks out onto the stage, lets them yell and scream at each other, and ends by saying, "We're going to try to get you some help." Bleah.

Yeah... he's gone way downhill and is still proceding in the same direction...

His advice is always pretty basic, too. If you're a drug addict, he tells you to stop being a drug addict.

,...kinda reminds me of that redundant skit on "Hee Haw",.. where the patient tells Dr Archie Campbell,..... "Doc,.. it hurts when I do this.",.. and Archie Campbell tells 'em,.. "Well quit doin' that!!"

There will always be a ready market for psychobabble and hucksters selling it.

Legitimate applied behavioral science is pretty boring stuff.

Comes down to supply and demand.

Just another touchy-feely homewrecker who think's what other people think of us is worth changing ourselves to pacify some perceived need on their part. Rednecks forever!

they're a radio comedian show -- typically an a.m. program on rock stations.

their website is bobandtom.com -- much of it is fee based but you may get lucky and catch a Dr P. bit on the free stuff....

I've never liked the guy. Although I've never seen his show, I have seen snippets on CNN. I've heard some things about him that bothered me (things mentioned in the article) but never seen the whole "rap sheet". Thanks for posting.

The best use I have for Dr. Phil is that I get a lot of laughs impersonating him at work....shave the beard back to just a 'stache, grow out the reverse Mohawk a bit-I would even look a lot like him, ha ha.

Phil reminds me of the people who traveled around selling "snake oil".
