Yes you can, but it's harder to see the color change

You'll burn the nickel off and it stinks. I understand the fumes are harmful. You don't need to see the color to anneal properly.

I must not have paid attention while doing the 300 300 WEMag nickled cases I did...didn't smell a thing and the necks have a nice blu-ish color. All I did was squirt the necks with a propane torch in a dim room, so that I could see a bit of color glowing, and then drop them in water. Those cases have lasted me well as 340 brass. Melting or burning the plating off would require excessive heat and would mean ruined brass.

Your article is great ken,read it awile back but I dont see anything about anealing plated cases thanks for your reply....
