Anyone have an idea how many of the above were manufactured in 284?
I fell into a real lucky buy on one recently - 99F with a monte carlo stock making it a DL I believe.
Just curious.
thanks

No idea exactly how many. Not ultra rare, but definitely uncommon and definitely brings a premium. The 284 was introduced in 1964, and phased out between 1970 and 1973 in most models I think. Here's mine wearing a Weaver K8 that it originally came with.

I have owned a few .284 in DL mostly and two in the great M-99E with brass rotor and underlever safety..These are ultra rare today...best caliber going for a lever action rifle IMO..

Murray's is the best book out there, but even it's more of a guide than a encyclopedia.
The folks here are, truthfully, the best reference.
Look under the "Misc. Good Info" thread at the top of this forum for information on ordering "The Ninety-Nine" by Murray.
