Does a 99C that was made in 1980 have an adjustable trigger?? I just got mine and seems like its a little heavy for my liking.

All said, the Savage 99 is a genius of a rifle. Although no longer produced, it remains highly revered, as it was the foundation from which Arthur Savage built one of America's great gun companies. >> (Jon Y. Wolfe) <<

The C triggers can be awful. Have seen them go 8 pounds and better.
They are not easy to adjust unless you understand the geometry of whole system. I can get them down to 3# with patience.

The trigger differences are not limited to the C. There are only 2 styles - lever safety versus tang safety. Lever safety guns have the old style sear and trigger and tang safety has the new style. The sear is totally different on tang safety guns and very difficult to work with. The 99A saddle guns can have some awful trigger pulls too. I believe the early DLs were tuned at the factory as most of them I've seen had a great trigger pull.
