Anyone know a smith that can smooth out a trigger on my 307? I have had a lot of guns, but this is the worst trigger that I have ever had--gritty,creepy, and heavy...think they did it with a rasp!! With a lot of concentration, tne gun shoots great with that heavy barrel....help!

I have taken apart the triggers of several of my big bores, and using a fine stone along with superfine wet sandpaper, I polished all mating surfaces. If you take it really slow, being careful not to remove too much material, you can get it pretty decent. The triggers may still be a bit heavy, but at least now they break cleanly. You'll probably be suprised at some of the rough surfaces you encounter in there. I'd recommend a dissasembly diagram, which you can download, helps out alot. Also check out levergunscommunity.com, those guys can definitley help you out.

XX probably forgot about this link. This is one of the better explanations of how the Winchester rebounding hammer and long take up trigger works on the Angle Eject rifle. There are several small tricks and clean up options available to improve the trigger pull and feel of the trigger. The trigger will still have the long take-up and you will still feel the spring stack under your finger as you take up the slack. I dont notice this when hunting, only when shooting from the bench.
