I am getting a little tired of paying $22-$25+ a 1lb. container of powder locally. I haven't bought powder online/mail order because of hazard fee's, which brings prices above my local suppliers offering. Any suggestions?

I got a fine chain retailer in town named Sportsman's Warehouse. They have just about every powder imaginable available. Prices vary by manufacturer, going from 15-19 dollars/lb. I believe that to be very reasonable.

Lowest prices for bulk that I know of: Powder Valley

For retail, try:

Great Guns N Gear

3530 Auburn Blvd

Sacramento, CA

916-487-6363

Around $18.00 a lb if I remember correctly.

kallen, go to Powder Valley and buy a couple of 8 lb. kegs and split them with your friends. Quit messing around with the 1 lb. lots. They screw you on those. You may not think you will ever shoot up a keg, but you will I shoot a couple of kegs a year and always look for more Flinch

Graf & Sons. Buy when on sale and try to buy as much as you can at one time to spread the haz fee out over many pounds of powder.

And, if you buy 32#, Graf's will pay the HazMat fee. Like Flinch says, you'll eventually shoot it up. If you aren't using at least a keg per year, you're not shooting enough

BTW - For Norma powder aficionados, Graf's has it for $10.99/lb, except for MRP and MRP2, anyway.

When IMR powder passed the $16/lb mark, a few of us high volumn shooters got together and proposed to one of the local small volumn dealers a large, case-lot only, order the next time one of his suppliers ran a special. He got a better price with our large order (40-25lb cases) and we got powder at 10 percent above cost, which in 2002 (last time we did that) was less than $13/lb. Nope...you might be talking about the one in Spokane.
I am located in the Tri-Cities.

We have a Sportsman's here in Portland, Or now. I was in Moscow, Idaho at Walmart in November and saw that they sell powder. If I remember the IMR and RL powder was around $17 or $18 per pound.

Why is it called a double u, should'nt it be called a double v?
