Sounds like it will be an awesome rifle when done. You'll have most of the bases covered with that set. Wish I would have bought two when I got the one I have. I've considered wood also, but will most likely go with a McM. I have a couple of other rifles that need some attention first so I have pleanty of time to change my mind. Tom

There are a lot of really great looking rifles on here. I figured I would put a few of mine up. First is a 458 Lott built by Stan Jackson here in Anchorage. Built on a winchester 70 classic action originally a 300 Win mag. 24" douglas barrel with muzzle break and cap so I can take the muzzle break off to hunt with. Accurate innovations stock with full aluminum bedding block. Gold blade sourdough front sight and brockman pop up peep bases with QD talley rings and Leupold 1.5-5 illuminated VXIII, german #4 dot reticle. I haven't worked up much in the line of heavy loads thru it but have around 250 rounds of 350gr Speer mag tip @ 2760fps. Mild to shoot and very accurate. I have shot several 5 shot groups at 100 yards 1" or less. The pop up peep and sourdough blade dead on at 25 yards and hits a couple inches high at 100 yards. That sourdough blade is very easy to place shots with. Winchester M70 classic 24" douglas barrel Leupold VXIII 1.5-5 Illuminated german #4 10.5 lbs with scope.

The second one is a lightweight 375 H&H done on a winchester 70 classic. In its factory configuration with a hogue overmolded stock it was a heavy SOB. After just one trip moose hunting I knew something had to be done about it. I sent it off to Extreme rifle works, out of Palmer alaska. I told him to make it as light as possible. They turned down the factory barrel contour, trimmed all possible metal from the action and the bolt and then bedded it into an ultra light kevlar stock. Cut the barrel back to 20" and installed a tritium bead front and brockman pop up peep rear. I originall had the 1.5-5 leupold VxIII that is now on my lott but have since replaced it with a ziess 3-9x40 conquest. It is one brutal SOB off the bench but is a joy to carry and is my go to gun whenever travel is involved. I'm going to work up a lot for it with the 270gr TSX for this years hunting season. Winchester 70 classic weighs right at 6 lb 4 oz without the scope and weight with scope is a little over 7 lbs.

Hey, WTF, Echols can get something like 12G's for a completely reworked Model 70. I'll bet the total on that other one is much less. I sure they work like a dream, but seriously, 12G's????

Mtnhunter,
