Case holds 84 grs. H2O bullet is 280 swift, Load is 72grs. of
Hodgdon H-5350 velocity is 2607 Rifle wt is 8.5 lbs. What will
be the recoil for this situation. Does anyone shoot such a
combination and what is your reaction ?

Part 2 for Greg R based on your latest report in ST which

NC I've been playing around with some 300's in my 358 STA. Rifle and scope weigh in at 9lbs. Last time on the range I was up to 2850 with the start of pressure signs. The best accuracy seams to be on the 2600 mark. Recoil well tolerable, I could sit and shoot 20 plus accurately but I doubt much more. If you can shoot 250s at the bench then the 280s are not going to make that much more of an impression on you.

The recoil will be fairly brisk - approx. 42 ft. lbs. at 18 FPS. Both the Norma and STA are sweet cartridges (I just wish they were non-belted). Do you have a rifle in 358 Norma that you're working loads up for?

I get 45fpe recoil at 18.5fps. Totally tolerable with a good recoil pad! Performance comes at a price.

What's the specs on your build? I got a 358 Norma as well. I'm currently shooting 225-grain Swift A-Frames and Barnes TSX bullets.

Just a thought here, but since the 358 Norma isn't a big bore you may wanna ask the same questions down in the reloading section for big game.

Just a thought
