I am looking for a bullet mold for my 45-70 that will cast bullets with a large meplat somewhat similar to the Garrett bullets. Any recommendations?<P>Thanks<P>Punkinchunker

I looked on <A HREF="http://www.MidwayUSA.com" TARGET=_blank>www.MidwayUSA.com</A> and found:<BR>Lyman 405 grain [Linked Image] <P>they have a 400 grain without a pic (both $46.99)<P>Lee 405 grain ($12.99)<BR> [Linked Image] <P><BR>I'm not 100% shore that these are what type of bullets you are looking at

I'm going to save you a lot of trouble (he-he) and turn you onto a GREAT mold design.<P>get yourself an RCBS 405 gr. FNGC and a .459 sizer. Don't cheap out and omit the gascheck, use it.<P>This bullet shoots too good to be true in my 1895SS.<P>here is the load data:<P>41.5 gr. Re7/[email protected]/CCI 200/ seated to the crimp groove and crimped. I use air cooled WW alloy.

I use the 405 gr. Lee mold over 27 grains of XMP5744. Alloy is water dropped WWs. Lube is 50/50 aircraft moly grease and Loctite C5-A anti-sieze compound. Filler is TP. I shoot this through a repro Sharps .45-70 equipped with vernier sight. I get 2 MOA groups.<P>Works for me!<BR>Pipe<BR>octagunyahoo.com
