I posted a simmiler topic on a diffrent forum and didn't get a response. I am strongly considering buying a .243 (see rifle catagory) and I looked threw midways web page and found that 243 moulds are made. I was wundering if any one has cast for this cartige and what kind of speeds you can get.

Does the speed matter?

You know, I have never cast bullets for a caliber smaller than 308, but knowing that it is very difficult to get what they call perfect bullets for that caliber, I would think that casting for a 243 would be about as tough as giving birth. The general rule is that the smaller the diameter bullet, the more difficult it is to cast good bullets. Imperfections become a larger percentage of the total bullet weight--ie a 1 grain error is 1% on a 100 grain 243 bullet but only .5% error on a 200 grain 30 caliber bullet.

I don't cast for the 6mm's. I do cast for the Roberts though and It hasn't been a pain. My Wifes' Roberts turned out to be a wonderful little jewel to shoot. She likes shooting ground squirrels with it, and whatever else there is to plink at. Heck, try it out.
